Exploring the World of Stories and Nature

Class 1 from St Cuthbert’s Catholic Primary School in Crook enjoyed a fantastic day of adventure during their visit to Hamsterley Forest.

The children spent the day exploring the beautiful woodland setting while bringing some of their favourite stories to life.

Searching for the Gruffalo

One of the highlights of the trip was searching for the Gruffalo and the Gruffalo’s Child amongst the trees. The children loved exploring the forest and using their imaginations as they looked for characters from the much-loved story.

Along the way, they collected sticks to throw into the river from Pooh Stick Bridge, gathered stones to toss into the water and even trip-trapped over the Ugly Troll’s Bridge.

Fun, Play and Forest Exploration

The adventure continued as Class 1 explored different areas of the forest and enjoyed spending time in the play areas with their friends.

After a busy morning of exploring, the children enjoyed their packed lunches in a cool, shaded area beneath the trees, providing a welcome break on a very warm day.

St Cuthbert’s Superstars

The children were a credit to the school throughout the visit, demonstrating fantastic behaviour and enthusiasm from start to finish.

Staff and accompanying adults were incredibly proud of how well the children represented St Cuthbert’s, proving themselves to be true St Cuthbert’s Superstars.

A huge thank you to all the adult helpers who supported the trip and helped make the day such a wonderful experience for the children.
